DJ HYPE

Da più di vent'anni sulle scene, DJ HYPE ha firmato tracce importanti come "Exorcist" (con lo pseudonimo di The Scientist), "Computerised Cops" o "Peace, Love & Unity", dando sfoggio delle sue incredibili tecniche di mixaggio praticamente in ogni parte del globo. La precisione nei passaggi, l'abilità nello scratch e le avvolgenti trame sonore che da sempre riesce a costruire, ne hanno fatto indiscutibilmente uno dei più rinomati dj al mondo. Dj Hype ha cominciato a produrre musica nel lontano 1990, lavorando prima come tecnico del suono e poi co-producendo molte tracce hardcore di prima generazione (per Strictly Underground, Sub-Base e Kickin'). Tutto questo senza mai perdere di vista le proprie radici reggae, hip hop e breakbeat. Nel 1994 Dj Hype fonderà la Ganja Records, label che si focalizzerà fin da subito sulle grandi possibilità dei breaks, pubblicando una serie di tracce di assoluto spessore come "Ganja Man" di Dj Krome & Time o l'immortale "Super Sharp Shooter" di Dj Zinc, ed aprendo la strada alla gloriosa True Playaz, forse una delle più importanti ed influenti etichette discografiche drum'n'bass di sempre.

Magellano è il collettivo nato a Genova dall'incontro tra Pernazza
(già Ex Otago e Stalker), Drolle (batterista dei KL.audio) e Filo Q
(già al lavoro con Casino Royale, Almamegretta, Piotta, Paolo Benvegnù
e altri), hip-hop ed elettronica, fusi con raggae e dubstep in una
insolita combinazione. Stanno per uscire con il loro primo singolo

WAH WAH CLUB - Saturday 03/03/2012 Gesaffelstein è un nome di fantasia. Un nome che non esiste per una musica difficilmente etichettabile, tanto che per arrivare alla soluzione non ci resta che scomodare qualche nome storico: Moroder, New Order, Jacno, Joy Division, Metro Pakt, Jean Michel Jarre, Underground Resistance, The Hacker... tutti nomi che hanno sicuramente influenzato la musica che il giovane produttore francese arricchisce oggi con una buona dose di malinconica e inaudita freschezza. Tra il passato e l'avanguardia, tra la techno e l'italo disco, le tracce di Gesaffelstein si aprono ad un dancefloor allo stesso tempo freddo e romantico, buio e scintillante, a tratti prepotente, ma sempre elegante ed esclusivo. He was an early DJ on one of London's pirate radio stations, Fantasy FM, and has been popular on the international DJ circuit, landing awards for Best Male DJ and Best Radio DJ (in 1994 and 1995, respectively) at the UK's Hardcore Awards. He also presented on the London based radio station Kiss 100, and was a player in Suburban Base’s compilation series, Drum and Bass Selection.

DJ Hype began producing in 1989, engineering and co-producing tracks (including "Exorcist" and "The Bee") for Kickin', Strictly Underground, and Suburban Base.

His Ganja Records label gained popularity, primarily through dance floor fillers such as "You Must Think First", "Tiger Style" and DJ Zinc's "Super Sharp Shooter". Their popularity peaked with the release of their first album in 1996: Still Smokin' , a label compilation released jointly by Ganja and Pascal's Frontline imprint. Re-released in 1997, its success also led to a major label deal with BMG's Parousia sub-label and the establishment of True Playaz, a Hype led DJ and production unit also including DJ Zinc, Pascal, and Rude Bwoy Monty. His 1997 Parousia EP, New Frontiers, with Ganja Kru, reached #56 in the UK Albums Chart.

DJ Hype is known for his jump up DJ sets, including appearances at the Playaz night at Fabric.

On 30 March 2009, Hype released a new double album mix compilation on Rhino Records, entitled DJ Hype presents Drum and Bass Essentials.
